6 Tips for buying presents for children

Child, Special Moments

I have always loved buying presents for children. Its just so easy. The following are the 6 simple tips to get the right present for children, no point buying an expensive present that does not bring a smile on the child’s face.

Tip 1, buy something that they have ever said,”Mummy, can you buy this for me?” or “Can I have that?” or “Buy this, please?” whenever you bring them shopping. Suddenly you are spoilt for choice, huh?

Tip 2, get whatever candy, chocolate, sweets, high in sugar edible stuff, irregardless of size and they will stick to you like bee is to honey.

Tip 3, get whatever kids’ stuff that has been flashing on the TV screen. Children always want the latest in-trend gadgets or toys. So that whenever the advertisement comes up on the screen, he can say proudly, holding up the exact thing, “See, I have this already.”

Tip 4, get whatever thing that has his favourite characters on it. Be it on the T-shirt, the cup, the shoes, the bags, the waterbottle, the toothbrush even if its just a sticker. They will love it.

Tip 5, this is a MUST, do your homework before you dash into the store and get the item. Make sure that the present which you are getting for them is not something which they already have.

Tip 6, if you know that there is something which the child used to own and treasure very much, but somehow it was broken or lost. GET THAT EXACT SAME THING! The child will kiss you a thousand times!

So this was what I bought for my nieces…..

A Set of these each for Cheng Han and Zeng Yee

…..and this set is for Mun Yee.

You know how much children love tearing up the wrappers to unveil their presents. They just love that moment of destruction. That is the reason why I decided to buy so many different items of one person. I will wrapped them separately stating on the wrapper that each is from a different member of the family.

So girls….happy unwrapping and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Presents from Disneyland

Child, Parenting, Special Moments

My sister just graduated from University, so went on a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland to celebrate the end of the study years.

If there is ever a competition on how to win-the-hearts of the young ones, my sister would definitely come in the top. Look what she brought back from the land of dreams and wonders….

As the water is sucked up the straw, the wheels (covered by the Donald and Mickey stickers) will turn. I thought it was a great gift at first, ‘cos the kids were so eager to drink water or rather so eager to see the wheel rotate that they drank 2 CUPS of water!

Later did I found out that its impossible to wash the wheels! So strict rule was imposed : no other liquid is to be drank from this nice-to-see-yet-unpractical-cleaning-designed cup, other than plain water. Imagine if they drank Coke or Ribena from it!

Then came the big “Wow” from the boys! Their favorite : Characters from ‘CARS’ the motion pictures. ‘Lightning McQueen and Mater’ Towel.disney2.JPG

But the problem came, there is only 1 towel. So the usual “It’s mine”, “No! It’s mine” argument started till the discipline master put a stop to the noise pollution.

In a split second, the kids said,”ok, we share” and down they lie with the towel covering their body….*sigh* kids are still kids….aren’t they?

They fight furiously for a moment and in no time, they are laughing together….

Is this what your children do everyday? Mine sure does!
