Do You Feel So About Your Child?

Parenting, quotes

I converse in Chinese more than English with Allan and among my close friends. However reading Chinese words takes alot out of me. Seriously, it really sucks out a good amount of energy from me. I am so thankful that I managed to pass my Chinese language every year during schooling time.

Yet, today, I made an EXTRA effort to finish reading this Chinese poem I saw on the Internet because it is really meaningful:

For my readers who do not read Chinese words, let me try to translate the above in English:

Told You but Don’t Listen
Listened yet Don’t Understand
Don’t Understand yet Don’t Ask
Asked already yet Don’t Do
Did already but Done Wrongly
Did Wrongly yet Don’t Admit
Admitted Mistake but Don’t Correct
Corrected yet Not Convinced
Unconvinced yet Don’t Voice Out

Do you feel so about your child sometimes?

Do you know that that is how our children feel about us sometimes too?

Parenting is a two way thing.
Are you behaving the way YOU want YOUR CHILD to behave in the first place?

How often does your child say: “Mummy/Daddy come! I want to show you this.”
And your answer is “Wait ah! Let me finish ‘this’ first.”

How often do you tell your child: “Ah boy/Ah girl, go bath now.”
And his/her is “Wait ah! Let me finish building this Lego aeroplane first or Let me finish watching this cartoon first.”

Can you see?
Its the SAME!

So the next time your child answers you in that way, ask yourself, did you respond to your child, in the same way too, when he/she wanted you to do something?

Do you like it?

If not, then its time to CHANGE YOUR HABITS, before you have the right to change your child’s habits.

Setting a GOOD ROLE MODEL for our children is not as easy as ABC, because we are humans and humans are GREAT at finding excuses.

Children are God’s gift to us, to make us a better Parent,…. a better Person.

Are you UP TO THE CHALLENGE?!?
*wink*

The Power of MineCraft

Handicraft for kids

My boys’ latest craze : MineCraft

Similar to the times when they were crazy over Angry Birds. However, their MineCraft madness has superseded the fowls. The famous Angry Birds game was not capable enough to get my boys hooked, unlike the MineCraft game.

Personally, I do not like them to play MineCraft because of the motion. Well, it makes ME giddy when the screen jerks with each and every move ‘the player’ makes. So, the rule of 30mins in front of the PC or iPad is stricter than ever whenever they are playing the MineCraft game or watching the MineCraft videos.

As much as I do not like them to play it, MineCraft has also become the ultimate weapon reward!

The kids know that I am ALL OUT to get MineCraft out of their lives, so they had been EXTREMELY cooperative for the past one month! At times, they are so unbelievably obedient that I could find no reason to NOT let them take their MineCraft dope. *eyes rolled*

They are totally insane over it! In fact, anything related to MineCraft like the videos on YouTube, that shows how others play the game; the music videos whereby the lyrics of certain famous songs had been changed to fit the stories of MineCraft, etc.

And now, THIS!

They are addicted to printing, cutting, folding, pasting and creating their very own MineCraft paper craft.

Binbin was so INTO this MineCraft handicraft that he printed out a whole page of swords, axes, spades, arrows, etc….

You may think that MineCraft is a violent game after this, but errr… actually it is not. It is more of a a construction cum building game.

Every part of the body took so much of their time, yet their determination to complete the body was so strong, it did not waver at any point at all!

Hours of Amazing Effort! *thumbs up*

I AM ALL IN FOR THIS!
Finally, there is something about MineCraft that I LOVE TO WATCH THEM doing.

It trains their patience, their motor skills, their creativity and their concentration level too!
