The Fortunate One
Child, Preschool, School-study October 14th, 2008This is much like a continuation of the ‘Would You’ post …
My 4-year old went for his cable-car ride with his friends today. 9 parents went with their kids, so I guess, its not that bad for him emotionally….
I was still worried that ALL his friends’ parents would tag along, and he would end up being the only one without a parent with him….*phew* glad that didn’t happen….
My sis commented last night, “I think Keatkeat is a very fortunate child… he gets to go for all these school trips which we could only dream of when we were young…. we just didn’t have the $ to go, isn’t that right?”
Ya… so true… so true… I’ve to work even when I was in Primary School to supplement my weekly allowance, not that my dad didn’t give me enough… well I had $1 per day, which was pretty sufficient back in those days… but that my mom is often ‘snipping off’ a little from ‘that’ at the beginning of each week, when my dad hand me the 5-day allowance at one go…*sigh*….
So did my boy enjoy his trip? HUGE YES! But I didn’t see the same excitement in him as the day when my sis brought him for the cable car ride to Sentosa 4+months ago…well, at least it was a “Yes!”… I’m glad I’m able to do a bit here and there to make my little one happy…
Being a NO-buy-TOYS-mommy’s son, he really hardly get pampered…

ya, i do agree with u. children nowadays are so fortunate if compare to last time. another reason is many of us only have 1-2 children at home.

I am glad that he had a good time! yes, our kids are a lot more fortunate than we were when we grew up, however as parents today (and I don’t mean materilistically), we certainly want our children to have it better and to have better opportunities than we did.

You can continue to be a NO-BUY-TOYS mommy, as long as I continue to be a WILL-BUY-TOYS aunt, the kids will be pampered. Hee
