When to teach a Child body parts?

Baby, Child, Parenting, Preschool, Toddler

That was what my friend asked me today. She came over for a visit and saw that my kids powdered their elbow too after a bath, she was puzzled. She has never seen kids powdered their elbows before…

I told her its because as I powdered them I would naturally name the body parts . Now they are so used to the routine, powder neck 1st, then armpit, shoulder, chest, tummy, private, knee, ankle, backside and back.My boys were able to identify their body parts around 1 year old.

I actually started this when they were able to sit up in the tub during bath time. As I was cleaning each part of their body I just happened to say things like, “ok…lets wipe your face first…. now your hair… shoulder… armpit…. neck….so on and so forth. When you get to hear the same words twice a day and every day, its hard not to get the names into your brain.

When do you teach your child about parts of their body?

Happy Birthday Hadi!

Child, Special Moments

Today, we celebrated Hadi, my nephew’s 1st birthday. It was a big party with 35 guests, including us. Isn’t he cute?!

This is Hadi’s daddy, mummy (my cousin) and his brother Matin.

Hadi’s mummy’s twin sister. They were never recognised as twins since young, look at how different they look.

Auntie is taking care of Hadi now. She was the one who took care of me the moment I was born, read My Story to know how much I love her.

There were more that nine kids in total today at the birthday party. While the parents were chatting on the ground floor of the mansion, I was ‘children-sitting’ upstairs.

I want to highlight on this particular little guy, he really won my heart so many times over. His name is Kaikai. He is the son of Hadi’s mummy’s colleague. He was so friendly, so obedient, super independent and the moment he speaks….oh my gosh! His tone was so soft and sweet. If he was a girl, ‘she’ would probably have suitors a hundred miles…..

We were up on the second story of the mansion playing Play Doh, the only thing that I do not like my children to play at MY HOUSE. The mess it creates….woahooo! its simply unbelieveable!

Never did Kaikai asked for his parents, he just played and played. He is the same age as my Binbin, just a few months younger. Here he is happily cutting the noodles created out from the noodle maker.

Even by observing Matin at work makes him laugh his heart out.

They had so much fun and when kids do, the adults I can’t help but went crazy with them too.
