This is Really Weird
Child, School-study January 15th, 2010Keatkeat came home and told me that he should be leaving his Maths Workbook at home for good! He continued to shock me by saying that I should be assigning him the number of pages to do in that workbook at the pace which I like. I will correct his mistakes and grade him by my standard.
Hhhmmm….
I am trusting my child 100% even though I am finding this really weird. If this Maths Workbook becomes an ‘additional source’ instead of a ‘main source’ of assessment, then WHY is it in the ‘MUST-Have book list’ from the school?
All Singaporean Mommies whose child has gone through Primary One, is that the current school system? Or is Keatkeat’s school special?
———————————-
First week of school, Binbin hurt his toe very badly. Its recovering, but still painful when pressed upon.
Second week of school, Binbin hurt his finger. Skin was sliced off too.
Is this going to be a trend? *eyes rolled*

My school’s using “MY PALS” books too but we didn’t get our students to buy this ‘Homework’ book. As you can see, this is a homework book, it is additional. It is NOT the main workbook. I believe Keatkeat should have another 2 books which are the ‘Workbook Part 1 and Part 2’. I think some schools get their pupils to buy this homework book so that they can have extra practice at home. But in school, they’ll just use the Workbooks.

Ing,
*faint*
I see. They just told us to buy the ‘whole box’ of books during orientation.
Never did I expect this.
Thank you Ing, now that I’m well informed, I shall LOOK through the booklist before I do my purchase for Binbin when its his turn to go P1.

Yes, Ing is right. I only need to buy the Workbooks, no need to buy this Homework

Levine,
now I wish Keatkeat is in Ivan’s school!
At least I don’t feel so ‘cheated’ for buying that homework book.
Cos the ‘Maths’, which I have been teaching Keatkeat since K2 is way more ‘chim’ than the entire homework book leh!
*sigh* feel abit like wasting money.

I’m surprised! So far, Z does this workbook in school. If it is necessary to buy this book why keep it at home?

LZmommy,
Precisely!
This book was NOT necessary at all!
Yet the put it inside the ‘compulsory‘ booklist!

haha, it is normal for kids to get hurt in school as they play during recess time.
as for the workbook, why dun you leave a note or call up the maths teacher to ask? maybe instructions listen wrongly? or they are using their own mathematics materials?

kkf,
the instructions were right.
They uses Workbook and not this Homework book.
Both the Workbook and the Homework book were in the ‘compulsory’ list.
This is the part I am unhappy about. If Homework book were to be kept at home, then why is it ‘compulsory’?
*Humph!*
