Happy Birthday Dearie!

Child, Preschool, Special Moments

This 10 inch cake was the biggest birthday cake Allan ever had in his 33 years on this planet. He was lucky. It was a misunderstanding between the person-in-charge and me. I wanted a 7 inch cake but the baker did a 10 inch. Unknowingly till yesterday at the point of collection, did we realize that none of us actually specified the size.

They suffered a loss, ‘cos I paid a 7 inch price for the made-to-order 10 inch cake. Ordered this cake online from LittleFootPastry. Tried it last year on my sister’s birthday, it was a gift from her boyfriend and I vowed to get it for Allan this year.

You see, Allan is also a cheese lover, in fact he is more cheese fanatic than I am. The cheese used in the cake smelled superb and simply perfect for people who love the creamy feeling when the cheese melts in the mouth.

I was intrigued the very first time I saw it. What I saw was a heart-felt presentation. The top of the cake was covered with spikes and colorful twinkle candy stars. It takes time and lots of patience to make the spikes.

The big surprise is in the interior. Cheese and chocolate sponge cake blocks stacking on top of each other. Its not difficult to imagine the amount of effort and work put in.

Food is often viewed as something that fills hunger. But when food is presented with the heart, it fills the soul. Three important criteria in cake making are all present here, OUTLOOK, SMELL and TASTE. I applaud them and hope they will maintain their standard in the test of time.

This was Allan’s birthday gift from his 3 year old son. Allan loved it so much; he created a folder just to safe-keep future drawings from his children in time to come. This is the VERY FIRST time Keatkeat drew something especially for his Papa. The man was gleaming with happiness even an idiot could tell…

Happy Anniversary

Child, Parenting, Special Moments

Today’s Post is not about my children but about the creator of them. Last night before Keatkeat sleep, he came over to me and said, “Thank you Mommy.”

“Why?” I asked.

“For making me out of your tummy.” Keatkeat replied without hesitation.

Allan and I receive thanks from Keatkeat very often. He is that kind of kid always appreciative towards the people around him. But this is the first time he mentioned about the fact that he came to this earth was not chance but through my (& dad) will.

It took us by surprise, squat down to hug him and kissed him on the cheeks while Allan gave Keatkeat an applause which you get to see only at the end of an impressive performance.

So Allan started to tell our love story which started 10 years ago. It feels so old. A decade. We have known each other for a decade already. Hmmmm….how time flies.

This was taken 8 years ago. I think I look much younger now without the heavy make-up.

Among all my suitors and ex-boyfriends, Allan is the least romantic. The only gift he gave on Valentine’s Day was the very first gift when we spent the first Valentine’s Day together – A Sovil Titus Watch.

The no-present-given started on our second Valentine’s Day together as an UNmarried couple. Posted the tragic story before. Go read if you like a twist to normal love story.

Many say, man changes after marriage, I’m glad mine didn’t, he remained as a no-present-on-occasions kind of guy. Do I hear some of you pitying me?

Till now, I still hope for surprises, but the logical part of me knows there will not be any….

I wanted to have a nice dinner, just for the 2 of us today but my MIL reprimanded us for being selfish and all. So directly indirectly telling us she was not willing to take care of the kids even though for just that few hours during dinner.

So dinner without kids is not possible already in future too, I guess. MIL mentioned that as a married couple with children, EVERY and ANY occasion should be spent as a whole family and not just the adults.

I suppose I’m wrong then. I was still too reliant on her. She was already reluctant even when I asked her to help me take care of them when I go for bazaar sales, now it’s not even for work, I should have expected such reaction.

So the dinner for the 2 of us is called off…..

Its funny how Allan determined that I was the one for him.

On one of our very first few dates, I remembered we were walking in Marina Square, not holding hands yet. He suddenly turned over and asked, “Do you know what I feel like doing now?”

“Shit in the toilet.” the only thought that came into my mind. Notice, its not a question mark, it’s a full-spot. Not that he farted to give me any hint. I just think he wanted that.

He stared at me with his mouth wide opened and responds, “Yes!!! How were you able to tell?”

I just shrugged my shoulders and off he went to the restroom. That was the start of our unexplainable telepathy we have between the 2 of us till this day….

Happy 8th Anniversary Dearie! Its Bronze anniversary this year!
