Keeping it simple
Child, Parenting, Places Kids Love March 18th, 2009My routine is a complete mess-up during School Holidays. I cannot do what I could on school days, like Blog-Hop! Ok ok, blame it on my lack of efficiency…*pout*
Sometimes parents have too high expectation on themselves, thus finding it a frustration thinking about how to keep the kids entertained during this period. Over the years I realize keeping it simple is what the kids what.
Finally, Keatkeat’s chicken pox scars aren’t as obvious, hence yesterday, we decided to head for the pool after our last visit 2 months ago!
Before we left the house……
Keatkeat: “Mommy, why are you not putting your swimming costume in the bag?”
Me: “Mommy is wearing ‘pampam’, so I am not swimming today.”
Keatkeat: “Take out the ‘pampam’ lah. OH NO NO NO!!! You cannot!!! The swimming pool will be red colour because of your blood!! I think you just sit there and look after our bags and play Papa’s handphone game…..”
Me: *laugh* “Yes, I will look after your bags and play Papa’s handphone game.”
*eyes rolled*

It is good that you teach your boys about that stuff. My husband didn’t understand it until he went on his mission to Mongolia (when he was 19) and couldn’t understand why a girl couldn’t be baptized as planned and all the girls were embarrassed explaining it.

Ryan Mami,
clever girl!!!
that’s the kiddish way of saying ‘Pampers’. *laugh*
Though we had never bought that brand for them, that’s how we call “diapers”.
Guess Pampers really did a fantastic job in their marketing.
Subconsciously, making their name a representative of the diapers market.
That’s how everyone in Allan’s family calls “diapers” too.

pampam? haha..clever way of alternating words. And Keat Keat didn’t yell out loud and make you famous, I hope? *grin*

So, how have you explained the monthly visit to your boys?

Moomykin,
my boys are aware of that when they were only 2 and 3 years old, which was 1-2years ago.
Educated them on this long ago.
But if you are interested, I’ll do up a post on how I did a good-enough-explanation to them, simple enough for their little minds to absorbed and understand.
(let you know when the post is up)
