Half Man Half Tree (part 2)
Health, Parenting, Videos March 25th, 2009
I did a post on this wonderful father back in Dec 2007. I posted Dede’s story feeling only sad then.
But recently I saw part 2 to his story on Discovery Channel and I cried.
I saw how he lived, he moved, he walked and how he earned as a ‘scary performer‘ together with many other ‘extra-ordinary-looking’ people. The looks from the ‘normal-looking‘ people showed disgust, fear and resentment. It was horrible, not Dede, but the look on those faces watching the performance.
Yet, when Dede was interviewed, he said it didn’t bother him like it used to. Now whenever he performs, he focuses his mind on “I need to provide for my kids, I need to do this.”
In this part 2 of the story, the main aim was to find a doctor to diagnose his condition and find a cure. He cut out samples, causing Dede to bleed profusely, to bring it back to his lap for tests.
According to Dede’s family, his veins grew with the roots, hence even trimming off the tip of any part will cause him to bleed and obviously painful too. The worse part is, it will grow that much faster, so they left it alone.
At the end of the show, the doctor returned with a cure for his unusual condition of Warts. But Dede didn’t respond to his offer for a long time. Allan and I had the same thought, that it might be too expensive for him to go for the surgery. ‘Cos he had been waiting for a solution to his problem for years! He NEED IT TO CHANGE HIS LIFE and his children’s life, we could not think of another reason why was there a delay in his response.
Weeks after watching this ending, I found GREAT NEWS ON YOUTUBE today.
He was operated on! Just look at him now! Finally, there is a GOOD ENDING! Wishes do come true! :)

Oh, I saw this particular documentary when I was in KL over Discovery Channel too. My hubby even went and googled about it and check on this Dede’s condition.
My heart went out to him to have to endure such suffering. Just hope he will have a better life soon.

Feel sorry for him and glad that he could able to get back to normal life.
I was even more horrified and sad after viewing the videos of deformed babies in youtube. These videos were suggested by youtube after I viewed Dede’s video clips… :(
