In 12 hours time…

Child, Health

12hours from now, I’ll not be 30 anymore, I’ll be PAST 30.

12hours from now, we’ll be having our usual midnight-cut-cake session.

12hours from now, I’ll be able to see my chocolate cake, which I still have no idea how it looks like, i.e. a surprise and I still love surprises, though I’ve been ‘punished’ for that before…*laugh*

12hours from now, I’ll be getting presents CHOSEN by my boys themselves for the very first time.

12hours from now, I’ll be able to see what my sis got for me as birthday gifts which she had prepared more than a week ago.

But now, I hope my sick boy, Keatkeat would be well.

Well enough to enjoy the birthday dinner celebration tomorrow night. Finally we are not going Sakae Sushi, but its Japanese food for sure, aren’t I so predictable….*laugh*

Well enough to stop having to have tissues in his hand, ready to catch hold of his spitting mucus whenever he sneezes, instead of having the mucus landing on his food. *Ewww…*

Well enough to be able to drink cold drinks, that will not make his cough worsen.

Well enough to be able to go back school after missing it for yesterday and today.

To be exact, Keatkeat has been sick for 7months (that would be a post I foresee might break the longest blog post record) but just one day before they had their one-of-the-most-wonderful time with my sis and his bf on Sunday, Keatkeat’s sickness worsen.

He has been looking forward to the trip all week and I just can’t bring myself to say those cruel words, “Sorry dear, you can’t go to the Zoo, cos you are sick.” Furthermore, I’m those kind of mom who doesn’t like to keep reminding children that they are sick and that they should stay at home and hide behind the blankets. I believe, kids should still go under the sun, breathe fresh air and perspire even though they are sick. Of cos, with the consideration of how sick they are too.

Get well boy, won’t you? For mommy’s sake, not that I want to stop having those incredible disruptive sleep every night for 7 months, but for mommy’s birthday, can?

Used to have lots of fancy wishes, but this year, I just want you to get well…. Will you please…grant mommy’s birthday wish?

China milk scandal

Health

Its been days since China Milk Scandal started. 2 hours ago :BEIJING (Reuters) – The number of Chinese infants taken to hospital after drinking tainted milk formula has leapt to nearly 13,000, while Premier Wen Jiabao sought to assure alarmed parents that culprit companies face harsh punishment.

The Health Ministry said the number of sick children had risen from a previously announced 6,244 children to 12,892 after drinking milk powder contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical banned from foods. See full report here and other related reports here.

Yesterday I received sms(es) on my handphone saying this:

Please help to sms to the rest…Hi Friends, the following items have been recalled due to China’s milk situation. This is real. M&M’s, snickers, mento’s yogurt bottle, dove choc, oreo  water sticks, monmilk, dutch lady sterilized milk, wall’s all natural mango, mini poppers ice-cream, moo sandwich ice cream, mini cornetto and youcan ice cream.

We’ve been asked by AVA to remove them from our stores. If you have any of these items in your house, don’t eat.

Today (extracted from here) Singapore’s Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, known as AVA, said samples of White Rabbit-brand Creamy Candy imported from China were contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical that can cause kidney stones and lead to kidney failure.

Authorities on Friday suspended the sale and import of all Chinese milk and dairy products after finding melamine in samples of a Yili-brand yogurt bar and Dutch Lady-brand strawberry milk manufactured in China. The ban includes milk, ice cream, yogurt, chocolate, biscuits and candy, as well as any other products containing milk from China as an ingredient.

“Retailers and importers have been instructed to recall these products and withhold them from sale,” the AVA said in a statement. “Consumers who have bought the affected products are advised not to consume them.”

I grew up eating the White Rabbit-brand Creamy Candy. I love it and I still do. Snickers was my best mate during schooling times, it was my lunch for most of the days. There are so many Made-in-China milk products that are sold here in Singapore, this is going to be quite an impact… Guess for just-in-case reasons, I’ll better stop buying M&M’s for now. Its sad, cos’ its one of my daily ‘dose’ of chocolate….*sigh*
