Grandma’s Love For Her Grandchildren
Child October 30th, 2011My MIL called me early in the morning as said these: “Hey you, don’t be like last year ah! This year must remember the scores for each subject and tell me. Last year, you told me you forgot and so I do not know how well Keatkeat did for his exams and thus could not reward him. Every year, I put aside this (unrevealed) amount of money to reward my grandchildren when they do well for their exams. This year’s target for C.H. (eldest grandchild) is 80 and above for All Subjects.”
Me: “Huh?! So high ah?”
MIL: “She told me she wants those press press phone which cost above $100. (I think she is referring to iPhone) Of ‘cos I have to set the target higher. If too low, then the reward becomes meaningless already.”
Me: “So what’s Z.Y.’s (2nd grandchild) target?”
MIL: “Above 90 of ‘cos!”
Me *faint*: “WHAT?! Why so unfair? Just because she stays with you?”
MIL: “No lah! Because her mock exam paper scores showed that she is capapble of achieving that.”
Me: “Aiyo! Then my Keatkeat leh?”
Knowing that my MIL does not read my blog, so I thought she might not know that Keatkeat scored FULL MARKS FOR HIS ENGLISH MOCK EXAM PAPER and 90 FOR HIS MATHS MOCK EXAM PAPER.
I WAS DEAD WRONG!
My niece who is my blog’s number one fan told her! *Super Faint*
MIL: “I know Keatkeat scored full marks for his English fake paper. I scolded Z.Y. because of that. I scolded her, “study for 4 years and never get full marks for English before!”“
*faint* I really do NOT like such comparison. Unnecessary pressure and stress on both kids.
MIL continued: “So Keatkeat must also score something like that lor!”
ME: “WHAT??!! Full Marks also?! *Sarcastic Laugh* Then you can keep your money to yourself. I just want him to enjoy the exam paper and not go crazy over it.”
MIL: “Cannot! Must motivate him. So that I ‘got face’ mah, because these grandchildren were brought up by me. If they score well, means I brought them up well.”
*jaws dropped* HUH?! Why would the kids’ good grades become your credit, when you don’t even teach them at all?! Anyway, she didn’t bring up all her 6 grandchildren, so where’s the logic? *scratch head*
No matter what, this Grandma’s Love For Her Grandchildren is simply undeniable. *smile*
