Nope! I am not talking about McDonalds. *laugh*

I am loving the relationship I have with my 3 nieces.

My 2nd niece gives me updates of her day at school when she comes back. When she is too busy, she will give me snippets of this and that for the entire week.

We do not stay together. In fact, we are 25mins drive away from each other. But since young, I have a special bond with this lovely girl. Maybe because we have the same Zodiac sign.*wink*

Being a mother of two sons and ‘reproductive factory‘ has closed down, having daughters is out of the question now. My 3 nieces make me feel very much like a mother who has 3 daughters.

I loved it when my nieces share their deepest thoughts, hidden feelings and little secrets with me.

I loved it even more when they tell me “ShenShen, don’t tell anyone. Only you know about this.”

The trust they have in me makes me feel really honoured.

However, when they tell me some disheartening issues which they are facing in school, I do struggle within myself whether to let their parents know. But their response is often, “Aiya, don’t need to tell them, they don’t care one lah.” or “I’ve told them before and they did nothing.”

I will always end such heart-to-heart talk with, “I think your parents should know about this. Can I tell them?”

Though they are still kids, they have pride too. They have the right to have their own secrets as well. It is our duty as adults to respect their decisions. Only when you show respect, will you gain trust.

Most often than not, their answer is always, “No. I just want you to know.”

So I will zip my mouth and seal their secrets in my heart.

I Am Loving It!
