Kids On Leash
Parenting March 23rd, 2012Have you seen kids on leash in Singapore before?
I asked on Facebook yesterday, “Because of this (the Ang Mo Kio Attempted Kidnap Case), parents are thinking of putting their kids on leash, just like what they will do to their dogs.
Will you consider buying a leash for your child too?”
And I Liked every comment, regardless of which side of the fence they stood.
To me, people who dare to speak up are ones to be respected.
Many refused to comment for fear of being judged. That’s perfectly fine too, because everyone has different value system. No right, no wrong.
Though only 7 comments were collected till this point, I would love to get more feedback.
Stay true to yourself, that is very important in order to live as a happy person.
In order to gather votes from people who do not use Facebook, not my friends (yet) on Facebook and my blog readers; AND with the thought of making you feel perfectly fine with your “Yes” or “No” to my question, I decided to put up this poll.
Thus, go ahead and shout your “Yes” or “No” on the poll. No one will know it was from you, thus no one will say you are a good or bad parent. Good enough? *wink*
I am seriously interested to know how many truly would and how many would not.
Tell your friends about this vote too, I would love to have their votes cast here as well.

No, I’m not used to the idea. I think leash are for pets not kids. I won’t stare if others choose to do it but its not for my kids.

Actually I voted for holding my childs hand. But the truth is this method does not work for all kids. I know of moms with very very active kids, and many young kids that does not seem to listen to instructions, threats of any kind. For them, the leash can be a good alternative to ensure thay are safe.

I personally find it very useful especially if you have more then 1 kid to bring out with bags etc and no helpers around.

Definitely. Though bought 1 buy had no chance to use it. Might be time to donate as my girl will hold my hand tight going anywhere. It’s very common in places like US especially public e.g. Disneyland. It’s all about safety, I’ve seen that some kids are just uncontrollable.

Well in the past I was against the idea. I also felt that leash are for pets and not our kids. But since months back I was considering a leash. Cause my boy is quite active. Now he is only 24 months, I’m still able to catch up with him and carry him tight if he attempt to struggle free. But I was thinking what happen if he gets older? Will I still have the strength? That”s when the thought of leasing him occurs to me. But I have yet to get one. I was previously thinking to really buy it when the need arise. After all, SG is rather safe. But with the recent case of attempt kidnap, I am rethinking about it. I will still have to monitor my son a few more times before I decides. Cause yesterday when I brought him out, he was quite well behave. So I’m still torn but not against the idea.

Yes, i used one when we’re in crowded places. There are times when she runs so fast ahead of me, and i’m left behind with the stroller with his baby brother inside. Better be safe than sorry, and i’m in Malaysia. Wanna stare mah stare lor rite. To me, kid’s safety is more important. ANd i don’t use the harness kind. I use the type when it’s fastened on her wrist, and i loop the other end on my wrist.
