Kids: “Mommy, why did you take our toy out of the house?”

Me: “An auntie wants to buy this.”

Kids: “That means we won’t get to play with it already…”

Me: “You hardly play with this anymore right? When we pass this to the auntie, she will give us S$5.00 and I will give that to the 2 of you to put it in your piggy-bank. In future, you can use that money to buy……”

(I sold it on Ebay for $5.00. Some say too low, some say a little expensive because it was pre-loved for more than 4 years. Oh well, its my ‘virgin’ listing, so there is still alot to learn…)

Kids: “NEW TOYS!!! Yeah!” *They yelled*

After we reached home. I gave each of them $2.50 in COINS. As they put the coins in, they kept saying “Chit-Ching, Chit-Ching”….

Allan asked why didn’t I give them (each) a $2 note and a fifty cent coin each, instead of going to the trouble to find those coins.

Me: “What fun is there if they only get to slot into that tiny hole TWICE? The more they get to drop into their piggy-bank, they will feel that they have more money. Moreover, dollar note doesn’t ‘make-a-sound’, so it would be boring for them…”

(Its the same reasoning why I choose to wrap each item separately whenever its present-giving time. For example, if I bought a box of chocolate, a toy and a blouse for my niece, I would wrap them up separately, even though its for the SAME PERSON. Many say, I’m wasting wrapping paper, some say, “you are too free? nothing better to do with your time?” Well, to me, kids love to see lots of presents and unwrapping is the most exciting moment, that’s why I do what I do ~ make them happy. *wink*)

Well, I was happy with my decision, ‘cos after that, the kids told me, “Mommy, sell more things, then can put more money into the piggy bank.” *smile*
