My Greatest Fear…
Child, Health, Parenting, School-study January 19th, 2010…. might come true afterall…. its a warning sign….
Over and over again, I had stressed that my greatest fear is to see my boys wearing glasses. Personally, I hate glasses. Though its totally on the opposite side as to why I started wearing one; and with EACH SIDE pushing towards the 1000 mark. *eyes rolled*
I scared them by doing this video. And they took heed till this day. So that video really worked!
The school educated them with these colourful stickers and they are still seen everywhere in my house.
I tried my best to prevent my fear from coming true, since there is still no conclusion to my research on whether myopia is hereditary.
Today Keatkeat told Allan before we set off for school…
“Papa, teacher put me at the last row. I cannot see some of the words on the white board.”
Allan instructed ‘his Secretary’ (a.k.a Me) straight away….
“Write a letter to his teacher and tell her about this.”
And so the secretary wrote (Damn! I should have just took a picture of my letter and could spare me the time from typing it now. *eyes rolled*)
“Dear Teacher, Zac* told us that he has trouble reading the words on the board ever since he had been placed at the back row. We have had his eyes checked few months ago. No signs of myopia.
He would like to sit at the first two rows, but he dare not request for it. Do you think you can grant him his wish by moving him forward? Or do you think we should send him for another eye examination?
Please advice.”
Today after school, Keatkeat announced, “Teacher change my place again. Now I am sitting in the center of the class. And I can see the words on the board clearly.”
I just cannot resist but Clapped and cheered “Yeah!” loudly!! Now, who cares about keeping a nice image in public! *eyes rolled* I Am Happy and I just had to show it with Sound and Motion!!! *Grin*
***For those of you who may have missed my ‘Official Post’, Keatkeat is now known as Zac in school.

sometimes, some thigngs just cant be helped…let’s keep our fingers crossed that keat will not have to wear glasses.
hmm..mommy, i think you should start letting keat take the move.there’s nothing scary abt teachers..he has to learn to speak out for himself. you can’t be writing in all his requests :)

blessed mom,
he has been doing all the asking, big and small….
But this , he dare not.
Because he was moved back after his friend and him were being scolded for talking in class.
*laugh*
So NOW you know why, ONLY for this, he dare not request.
*giggle*

Oh..I thought wearing spec is inherited? Eg, if both parents wear spec, the kids will have a higher % comparing to those who don’t?

mnhl,
according to my research (click on the link in my blog post), you can see that some said “No, it is NOT hereditary.”
While others said “Yes, it is.”
Then again, when I look at my friends’ families, it is true.
My friend’s parents can have perfect eyesight but all their kids are short-sighted.
Then I have other friends whose parents are short-sighted but the kids have perfect eyesight.
So I would say (based on my observation) it is NOT true that it is hereditary.

as a form teacher this year, i also received a couple of such requests, which actually got me quite a headache, as i really where to put the kids in class anymore as most of the kids need to sit in front. Some told me their kids cannot see clearly, some told me their kids are easily distracted, some told me their kids are slow…i am really scratching my head now. haha. eyesights truely important, just hope keat never has to wear glasses, irritating thing, i have it too.

I have never needed glasses and neither did my husband (now he uses reading glasses, just the normal effects of aging). But Miss Pink got glasses at age 4. Really I was just glad we caught it and she can see well without being frustrated. Now I can’t imagine her without her cute pink glasses! But she may grow out of needing them–we’ll have to see.

Same prob here, dear. My girl sits on the 2nd row in class (can c the whitebod). But for Moral subj, they combine with another class. So she has to go over to the oth class. And she usually end up sitting behind (not fast enuff, I guess). She can’t see vy clearly so she told her teacher and she had to share the table with oth students at the front row. 3 students with 2 tables. hmmm… I wondered y the teacher cannot move 1 of the students behind.
