What A Way To Start The School Holidays!

Health

*Scream*

I am going crazy very soon!

With the massive packing still going on in the house for the big move out (read post “HDB 1st Appointment“), PLUS preparation for the upcoming chalet (read post “Our Birthday Present for Binbin’s 7th Birthday“), PLUS school project and homework to be completed within the 1-week break, PLUS the usual household chores, PLUS my many blog post drafts still pending to be completed, with just the title written so that I will not miss out anything, PLUS my other responsibilities as a friend, a human being…….

Now, with Kids being unwell, more attention is needed on them. What a way to start the school holidays!

*Deep Breath*

Yes, taking lots of deep breaths with eyes closed every now and then helps me to think straight.

One lesson I learn this round is NEVER go Google when your child is sick.

When Keatkeat told me that his left abdomen was painful when he eats and when he sits yesterday, Google tells me it may be Colon Cancer! *faint*

Late last night, he told us that the pain was getting worse. We wanted to bring him to the doctor, but there was no fever and he assured us that some tummy ointment and a good sleep would do him well.

Well, its his body afterall, so we went ahead with our 8 year old’s suggestion, but observed him after he entered dreamland.

Early this morning, Allan brought him to the Polyclinic while I brought  Binbin to his swimming class.

Guess what did the doctor say?

“I can feel his stool in his stomach when I press.”

*huge laugh*

So it was just constipation that has stretched his intestines too much, which caused the pain to occur!

And there I was thinking about “Colon Cancer” the whole night through. *eyes rolled*

Whenever I see the RED Wordings “Keep Away From Children” on my children’s medicine, I would giggle a little. Isn’t the medicine for the kids? How am I going to give it to them when I have to keep the medication away from them? *laugh* (Alright, me and my nonsense)

As for Binbin’s sickness, he forbid to let me blog about it. So I must respect his decision. But I think, you readers are smart enough to know what it is by looking at the medication, right? *wink*

Binbin’s medicine is very special. My first encounter with such medicine.

The bottle contains powder. We need to pour water to fill half of the bottle first. Shake it well. Then pour more water to fill up the bottle. Thereafter, it must be put into the refrigerator. Medicine must be drank cold. Pretty special eh?

Hope your child is having a great start to this one-week break and not like mine…. *smile*

Appetite Stimulant for Your Child?

Health

Appetite Booster
Yes, I admit, I have not been happy with the rate Keatkeat’s body is growing. Its just not fast enough!

Classmates who used to be his height last year or the year before last are already taller than him now. Whereas at home, the height difference between him and his younger brother, with the age difference of 18 months, is closing up.

How?!

Well, during Preschool and Primary One period, I let him try this Appetite Stimulant to let him speed up during meal time and increase the quantity of food that goes into his mouth at each meal.

After two years of testing, I must say that it truly worked. Keatkeat’s appetite improved and so did his speed of chewing and swallowing his food.

Binbin did not like the taste of it. He did not even want to get it down his throat. In the end, he spat it out. So after trying that very first tablet, he ‘vowed‘ never to touch it again.

Oh well, it was MY FAULT!
I saw the word ‘Chewable‘ on the orange packaging and I thought it was like rubbery, THAT sort of  chew-a-bility. Something similar to Gummy Bears Candy, but it was FAR from that.

Although it does not taste like a medicine tablet, it does reminded me of Antacid which you need to chew on, when you have gastric problem. So it was definitely not that pleasant for Binbin.  *sigh*

After trying one myself, I was rather surprised that Keatkeat liked it. *eyebrows raised*

So in the end, I went searching for this alternative (below) for Binbin:

In the end, Keatkeat preferred this too. So since its an Appetite Stimulant and a Vitamins supplement, I see no reason to look further.
*smile*

But the sad part is…. Keatkeat is still not growing fast enough. Now, 3rd in queue from the front in class. *pout*

He could eat an adult’s portion of food since Primary 1, but where did all the food go to? How come its not showing much growth on the body. Did it go to the hair? *laugh*

Hhhmmm… Actually, he is more troubled than his mother over his height, because strangers are starting to point at Binbin and asked if he was the elder brother. *faint*

Oh well……so long as he is healthy, I think that’s all that truly matters. *wink*
