Hay Dairies Goat Farm
Places Kids Love November 6th, 2008
After the visit to the cemetery, Allan wanted to lightened up my spirit and so we went for a drive around Lim Chu Kang. We chanced upon this wonderful place.
I love greeneries, told you that when I went to the Bottle Tree Park and now let you know another side of me, I love farms too! Some people find the place smelly. But that same smell makes me happy! *huge laugh* I’m weird! *laugh*
There is goat milking session between 9am – 11am daily. We missed that. But we will be going back again just for that! The kids will love it! (more like mommy will love it *laugh*) Ohhh…. this place brings back good memories of the goat farm in Brisbane, when I was there for my honeymoon 8 years ago…
We had fun feeding the goats for the price of S$2.00. It was the cost of a packet of grasses. They started feeding the kids (baby goats) first.
(Did you know that another name for baby goat is ‘kid’? I forgot about that name till I went to the farm.) Some of the kids were so excited, they stood so tall, almost as tall as my boys!
Then we moved on to the ‘daddy and mommy’ goats. Woah! They were aggressive, they pushed each other in order to be fed by us. One of them stood up and was as tall as Allan!
We were lucky to be able to see the keeper triming off the ‘nails’ for the goats. It was tough just to catch hold of one. In fact, it was rather amusing to watch the keeper swinging the ‘loop’ over the goat’s head and all the goats were running around that confined place like kids playing ‘police and thieves’ *laugh*
And before we left, Keatkeat patted the ‘grandpa (look at the beard) and grandma’ goats. Binbin wasn’t interested, he just can’t wait to get another packet of grasses!!! *laugh* Nah… we didn’t obliged. We told him, “next time baby Binbin, next time….”
Ever wonder…..Why do goats wear bells?
Because their horns are not working!
*Laugh*
(Without realizing, I’ve already mentioned 13 places where kids would love to go…(and I have another 6 in my draft waiting to be posted, oh dear!)… check out the other 12 under the category : Places Kids Love)

We went to catch the milking session with great anticipation but it was a HUGH disappointment. it was just sticking the pump to the goats’ teats and the machine pumps go “pomp, pomp, pomp, pomp” and the milk goes into the pipes directly. NOTHING TO SEE! It’s not like a dutch-lady manually milking cow. (hahaha! that was what i was hoping to see!!)

It’ always a fun time when goats are involved. My husband is intent on getting a goat one day. I like the smell when we visit a farm but I’m not so sure about having that smell at home.
